Expect Art Deco splendour at its best at the popular Apollo Victoria Theatre, whose long and impressive heritage dates right back to 1929. Originally built as a cinema, it was home to the ‘new’ phenomenon of talking films, owned by a firm called Provincial Cinematograph Theatres. Designed by the architect Ernest Walmsley Lewis, it is still a masterpiece in Art Deco style, elegant and ornate. Lloyd Webber’s huge stage hit Starlight Express played here for almost twenty years, entertaining countless thousands of keen musical fans. And the Bollywood-inspired Bombay Dreams caused a stir here, too. Saturday Night Fever raised the roof at the Apollo Victoria as did Billy Joel’s musical Movin’ Out. Wicked took the stage in 2006 and is still thrilling audiences at this much-loved West End venue. There are cosy bars on both levels and some excellent restaurants in the vicinity. Walk this way for the best Apollo Victoria theatre tickets in the house!
